This afternoon, I met Derek Lam for Vogue. Along with Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schuller, Michael Kors, he is drawing the new elegance. He designes for women who like fashion but dont’ give it the first seats. He chooses high-end fabrics and sticks with simplicity even though his style has a special flavor.
Sometime in April, Derek Lam will open his first shop in the heart of Soho but strayed away from the tourist area and designed by Sanaa (the creatives behind The New Museum on Bowery) introduced and suggested to him by his life and business partner who is responsable for the marketing of Prada.
